Pat Rafter agrees to join the Sport for Australians Party

 .

Patrick Rafter has agreed to join the Sport for Australians Party as a candidate for a seat in the senate in the next Federal Election.
Pat has been heavily involved in charity work since his retirement from the ATP tour, where he had a highly successful career, winning two US opens, and making the final of Wimbledon twice.
In a sport sometimes criticized for the behavior of its  players, Pat Rafter stood apart. Always amiable and humble, he was always one of the most popular players on the tour.
In 2002 Pat was named Australian of the Year.
After spending much of his time in Bermuda since his retirement, Pat has decided to live in Australia full time with his wife and young daughter.
Patrick had never really thought about a career in politics, however when we approached him about becoming a candidate for the SAP in the next federal election, he became very enthusiastic about representing Queensland and Australia in the Federal Senate.
The SAP is very excited to welcome Pat Rafter to our organization. He has always represented Australia with pride and humility, and will continue to do so as a candidate for our party.
